Trevathan Falls

There is a superb swimming hole at the base of Trevathan Falls. The falls are picture perfect and the swimming hole is large and deep with water pure enough that you can drink without treating. (Please treat your water though just to be safe.) Trevathan Falls is a little off the beaten track. There are no signs from the main highway to get to the falls. Access is OK in a 2WD but you may have to walk the last few hundred meters of the track if you don’t have high clearance.

Directions

From Cooktown
*Head south out of Cooktown along the Mulligan Highway 18km.
*Turn left onto Mount Amos Road and follow 10km.
*Turn right and follow the signs to Trevathan Falls 3.8km.
*Park where the track ends and walk up the hill to the falls. You can also follow the creek upstream if you like to clamber over boulders.
